How is the Foundation different from the Friends of the Library Groups?
Each branch of the Lyon County Library System has a Friends of the Library organization that supports that branch by fundraising and by volunteering at the library. Volunteers assist the staff and help with various library programs. Each Friends group helps fund special library programs and purchases items and library materials for their branch.
The annual operating budget of the Lyon County Library System is determined each year from limited county resources. The Lyon County Library Foundation will supplement this limited budget in order to provide programs and major capital improvements to benefit all branches of the library system, and to improve library services county-wide. Our funding will come from granting agencies and organizations as well as donations from individual contributors.

Several proposed projects for the next five years include:

•A Bookmobile to reach outlying areas

•A fiber-optic system for library computers

•Funding for technology and arts resources

•Expansion or remodeling of branches not provided in the county budget

When you contribute to the Lyon County Library Foundation, you join your neighbors and friends in supporting a valuable resource in each community—the Lyon County Library System. The Lyon County Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your contributions are tax deductible as allowable by law.
